The EEG sweep plays a key role in countering naval mines equipped with non-contact fuzes. The effectiveness of the sweep is based on the identification of a specific type of vessel through the analysis of its characteristic physical field signatures.
The complex structure of the sweep includes a set of elementary magnetic and electric field generators, interconnected by cable harnesses both among themselves and with onboard power supply and control equipment.
The process of determining optimal operating parameters and physical field modeling configurations of vessels using the “Signature Management Tool” has been automated. As a result, sweep operation is comprehensive and simplified. The system enables control via the onboard interface of the control and monitoring unit. The sweep interface software includes all necessary functions for entering, configuring, and monitoring key mine countermeasure parameters, including automatic determination of sweep lane widths at various depths.
The sweep precisely simulates various ship physical fields, including magnetostatic fields (SM), alternating magnetic fields (AM; 50–300 Hz), static electric fields (UEP), and extremely low-frequency electric fields (ELFE; 1–10 Hz).
